Stressing on the importance and position of the cooperative sector in Iran and the world, Seyed Davoud Salehi said: based on the resolution, UN and ICA appealed countries to promote cooperatives and raise the public awareness about the role cooperatives play in economic and social developments; Public Relations of ICC reports.
While speaking about the impressive presence of Iran in global communities especially in the UN, Deputy of Secretary General of ICC stressed on participation of ICC as the active member of ICA in the programs prepared for this year.
Noting about the IYC Slogan which is “International Year of Cooperatives 2012: Co-operative enterprises build a better world”, he added: ICC as the representative of Iran in ICA has planned to play an effective role in ICA’s programs, which preserves the dignity of our country in the region and the world.
While inviting all cooperative, private and Governmental organizations to take part in IYC National Committee, Salehi said the committee consisting of representatives of different economic sectors of the country, NGOs, Universities, Media and featured experts and intellectuals.
Deputy of International Affairs of ICC stated that some of on-going programs of ICC for this year are publishing materials to raise awareness of cooperatives through distributing pamphlets and brochures, using media and creating a website which is linked to ICA’s website.
Other programs announced by Salehi on IYC are organizing meetings, conferences, workshops and etc, with a preference to the subjects related to cooperatives in the national and international levels and outlining a policy to establish and promote cooperatives especially in remote areas.

Mentioning about ICA’s role to celebrate the year, he continued: 32 ICA member countries from Asia and pacific, Europe, Americas, Africa and Caribbean Islands announced their national committees to the secretariat of IYC committee and will pursue ICA’s global strategy for the year. In the ICA-AP Regional Assembly held in Beijing in 2010, in order to come to integrated results in the year, ICA Board has agreed to focus on two issues namely public awareness and promoting curiosity of people on the necessity and importance of cooperatives.At the end, he invited cooperative organizations to share their plans or suggestions with ICC to celebrate the year more effectively.
