Salehi (Deputy of Secretary General in International Affairs) and Javanshir Akhundov (Azerbaijani ambassador to Iran) investigated the ways through which they could pave the way for further cooperation as well as addressing obstacles in the way of expanding economic transactions in Co-operative sector in line with the International Year of Co-operatives, Public Relations of ICC reported.

In order to develop economic cooperation and resolving difficulties of frontier dwellers’ co-operatives and the neighboring provinces, a meeting was held in the Islamic Republic of Iran Central Chamber of Co-operatives (ICC) by the invitation of Mr. Salehi from Javanshir Akhundov
 
Salehi explained the latest situation of Co-operatives in Iran and mentioned: ICC is fully prepared to cooperate with Co-operatives in Azerbaijan (Azar Etefagh) in divergent fields such as Industry, fisheries, housing, transportation, handicrafts, service, education, finance and credit.
 
Elsewhere in his remark, He said this year (1390) is named as “Economic jihad” by the supreme leader. International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) has also entitled the year 2012 as “International Year of Co-operatives”.
 
He further pointed on sending and receiving delegations, and forming joint committees to implement content of the latest MOU signed between officials of the two friendly, neighboring countries which in turn develop collaborations.
 
He went on explaining the problems frontier dwellers’ Co-operatives are dealing with, and put forth solutions to facilitate transactions among Co-operatives, enterprises, and traders of both countries.
 
The ambassador of Azerbaijan expressed his enthusiasm to expand ties with Islamic Republic of Iran. He, then mentioned that the year 2011 is called as the year of “Tourism and Handicrafts” in Azerbaijan. He went on saying that in line with this year Azerbaijan is likely to adopt Iran’s experiences in the field of handicrafts and hand woven carpets. He also declared the readiness of his country to develop ties between the two friendly countries.
 
Regarding the problems of Frontier dwellers, he said permanent collaboration is needed to tackle obstacles. He further said that the difficulties of traders will be addressed via building an Economic Free Zone.
 
At the end, he pointed the prominent role of Co-operatives in some countries like Japan, America, Canada, and Germany and praised the vital role of Co-operatives in economy of different countries.
